Rashmikant became a prominent member of the gem community, serving as the president of the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council from 1983 to 1985. He was also a founding member of the International Colored Gemstone Association, and spent two terms as vice-president. Rashmikant Durlabhji was also a philanthropist. For more than 40 years he served as the secretary of the Santokbha Durlabhji Trust, which runs a 350-bed multidisciplinary hospital and training centers for postgraduate doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff. In 1998, he founded the Khailshankar Durlabhji Avedna Ashram, a hospice for terminally ill cancer patients. Durlabhji was survived by his wife, Sumedha, and two children.
